Every person with a screening mammography appointment scheduled during the month of October will be automatically entered to win a gift basket draw prize, filled with goodies from local, supporting businesses. Winners will be announced after November 1.

Where to get screened for Breast Cancer
EVERY 1-2 YEARS BASED ON MEDICAL AND FAMILY HISTORY
A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast used to detect breast cancer. Mammograms are generally recommended for women aged 50 and older, although women at higher risk of developing breast cancer may be advised to start screening earlier.

Where to get screened for Cervical Cancer
PAPANICOLAOU TEST (PAP TEST) EVERY 3 YEARS
A PAP Test is a screening test used to detect changes in the cells of the cervix that could lead to cervical cancer. PAP tests are generally recommended for women aged 25 and older.
To get screened for cervical cancer, you can book a PAP Test through your family doctor.

Where to get screened for Colorectal Cancer
Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT Test) Every 2 years
A FIT Test is a free screening tool used to detect early signs of colon cancer. It is a simple, at-home stool test which detects tiny amounts of blood in the stool which could be an indication of colon cancer. FIT Tests are recommended for adults over the age of 50, especially men who are less likely to be up-to-date in colorectal screening in Dufferin/Caledon.
To get a FIT Test, talk with your family doctor.
If you do not have a doctor, you can get a free FIT Test by contacting Health811. Once a FIT Test has been ordered, LifeLabs will mail a FIT Test package to an Ontario mailing address of choice.
